Avanta Sees Increase in Meeting Room Take-up During 2010

Demand for Avanta’s meeting room product was so high in 2010 that the firm are now preparing for huge take-up figures this year, according to a new report.

Online bookings took the biggest share of the spoils, which totalled almost 16,000 across the company’s 18 UK locations, with the majority of reservations attributed to training companies and those working in the technology, healthcare and consulting sectors.

Commenting on the overall surge in meeting room take-up, which represented a rise of 7.5% from the previous year, central reservations manager James Harrap said:

“Businesses of all sizes are enjoying the benefits of using fully-equipped meeting rooms, which can be rented by the hour, half day or full day at all of our venues.”

He credited much of the product’s popularity to the price, commenting that it is “considerably more cost-effective” for companies to rent Avanta’s conference space, rather than creating a dedicated meeting room in their own office which remains empty for most of the time.

The most popular locations were the buildings on Victoria Street in SW1 and Lyric Square in Hammersmith, which received a total of 4,202 meeting room bookings between them.

“We currently have 90 different sized modern and stylish meeting rooms available, ranging from 2 -150 people capacity and all benefit from free Wi-Fi as standard,” James continued. “We also offer comprehensive video conferencing facilities in all of our business centres. In addition, most rooms are equipped with flip charts, plasma screens and white boards available for use at no extra charge.”

Commenting on future prospects, James added:

“Looking ahead, there is great potential for growth, particularly with Vanilla, our stunning events venue in London’s West End. In addition, we’re constantly updating and improving our website and have expanded our dedicated meeting room sales team to handle the larger volume of enquiries we’re receiving.”

Vanilla will provide the venue for Avanta’s charity fundraiser in March 2011, hosted by Olympic rowing legend Sir Matthew Pinsent.

The event, which is in aid of children’s charity Sparks, is the culmination of a virtual raffle that aims to raise over ┬ú5,000, and many impressive prizes have been donated for the raffle including a luxury weekend hotel break, an Amazon Kindle, and Selfridges shopping vouchers.
