Avanta Kick-start 2011 with Sparks Charity Fundraiser
Serviced office provider Avanta have kick-started their 2011 fundraising campaign for children’s medical charity Sparks with a virtual raffle, with the aim of raising over ┬ú5,000.
Tickets are currently available to buy online at www.justgiving.com/avanta-raffle at a cost of £5 each, and there are an impressive range of prizes on offer including a luxury weekend hotel break, an Amazon Kindle, Selfridges and Next shopping vouchers, and Jo Malone bath products.
Avanta have been supporting Sparks for over 4 years, and in that time have helped the charity to raise vital funds to progress their medical research, which includes childhood diseases such as Pre-eclampsia, Spina Bifida and Premature Birth, as well as many other childhood illnesses such as Juvenile Arthritis, Asthma, Epilepsy and Cancer.
“Many people simply don’t realise that the majority of pioneering medical research projects for children in the UK depend on charities like Sparks and not the public purse,” said Karen Billington, spokesperson for Sparks.
She commented that the role of corporate support from Avanta is “absolutely vital” to their mission.
“Without such support, much of that important lifesaving and life-enhancing research simply wouldn’t kick off and that would be tragic. The money raised by Avanta’s virtual raffle will help Sparks-funded doctors and researchers give more children the chance of a healthy, winning future,” she added.
The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday 2nd March 2011 by Olympic rowing star Sir Matthew Pinsent.
Managing Director of Avanta, David Alberto, commented:
“This is a great initiative to get all of our business centre clients, and friends of Avanta, involved in spreading the word about the valuable work performed by the charity as well as raising valuable funds for such a worthwhile cause.
“We hope to sell at least 1,000 tickets to help get our 2011 Spark’s fund-raising appeal off to a great start.”
