£19m Offices Completed in Wakefield
A £19 million project to develop new office space for council workers in Wakefield has been completed by contractors, Morgan Sindall, who have been shortlisted for an award in excellence.
The so-called ΓÇÿWakefield OneΓÇÖ was commissioned and created as a brand new four-storey headquarters for the Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, side by side with the historic County Hall.
123,000 sq.ft. of new office space is expected to house around 1,200 employees from the District Council in a brand new state of the art building designed by Cartwright Pickard. This development signals the second stage of a £140 million project to revamp the area of Wakefield Merchant Gate into a new quarter.
ΓÇ£The regeneration master plan is of great importance to Wakefield city centre and its wider business community and these new state-of-the-art civic offices will play an important part in the new, modern look and feel of the city,ΓÇ¥ says Chris Brown, Area Director.
ΓÇ£Morgan Sindall has a wealth of experience working on major urban regeneration projects across the country and weΓÇÖre proud to play a part in such a significant regeneration scheme.ΓÇ¥
The project was commissioned by the English Cities fund, a partnership between Muse Developments, Legal & General Property and the Homes and Communities Agency.
