£100m regeneration scheme to bring new office space to Manchester
A £100m plan is set to bring office space to Manchester, in the nearby town of Wythenshawe. The scheme will also introduce a new bus station as part of a regeneration project in the district.
The town will benefit from a new bus link with Manchester Airport, as part of a transport interchange with Metrolink.
The office space has already been earmarked by Manchester council, who have struck a deal to occupy 50,000 sq ft for 500 staff from the children and adult services department, and the Wythenshawe regeneration team.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester council, said: “This is a big step forward for the regeneration of Wythenshawe town centre.
“We are working closely with our partner agencies to make it a better place for local people and to attract investment into the town. The approval of the new bus station location and council office will help us towards our goals.”
Michelle Taylor, regional director at St Modwen, said: “The deal to bring up to 500 council employees into this development will have an instant and positive impact on Wythenshawe town centre, bringing more activity to the retailers and other surrounding businesses.”
