The County of Hertfordshire dates back as far as the Stone Age, but it was the Romans who began building modern day Towns including Hertford. The Saxons followed on from the Romans with many of Hertfordshire's Tourist Attractions of the modern day, including Hertford Castle, Bishop's Stortford Castle and Berkhamsted Castle. Since the Industrial Revolution, Hertfordshire has been a heavily populated and thriving County.
