Farringdon Too – September’s Business Centre of the Month

Behind the functional fa├ºade of a 1960s building lies Farringdon Too – a stylish, modern business centre based right in the heart of the City of London.

September’s Business Centre of the Month winner has all the obvious benefits such as a prime location, great fit-out and top-notch facilities. But one of its most endearing and unique features is its commitment to sustainability – something that The Office Group has gone all out to achieve.

For example, how many companies do you know that has its very own wormery? The Office Group does – at its popular King’s Cross building. But these aren’t just gimmicks – every sustainable feature has been carefully thought out and introduced to help maximise efficiency, and make the centre a more pleasing and efficient place for clients.

Imaginative

The Office Group, which has appeared in the headlines recently due to its connections with property mogul Lloyd Dorfman, has carefully refurbished the building to create a design-led and environmentally sustainable space that is both efficient and imaginative. The redevelopment took place using various recycled materials such as car tyres for the flooring, and there are recycling facilities on every floor including paper, plastic, and cans.

There are green roofs, a wind turbine, and rainwater harvesting which is then used in the toilets and to irrigate the roof. Each office comes with sensor lighting to save energy on parts of the building not in use, and the property is heated with the help of solar panelling.

There are also showers and bike storage to encourage clients to cycle to the office rather than use other means of less sustainable transport.

Eco-friendly building

Richard Horwell, officebroker.com’s Account Manager for the Central London region, recently visited the office and was impressed by The Office Group’s commitment to sustainability.

“I loved it!” he said. “It’s fantastic space – an eco-friendly building made with recycled material throughout the building. There is a fantastic eco roof terrace with access for everyone, solar panels, and growing veg!”

He added that the refurbishment work had created a “bright modern look” inside, which was finished with bright colourful walls, attractive communal areas and well-equipped meeting rooms. “It’s a great place to work, with nice break away-areas for everyone’s use.”

Breakout area

The building’s appeal has carried through to clients, some of whom have taken the time to express their thoughts on the officebroker.com website.

Earlier this year, Chris Dumpleton from Centrinet commented that the property has nice touches that “set it apart from other offices”, with a relaxed yet corporate feel. “The roof garden is amazing and will be used extensively in the summer!” he added.

Creative space

Farringdon Too impressed officebroker.com’s Managing Director Jim Venables, who felt that the centre was a good candidate for the award and a shining example for the flexible space industry.

“The work they have done on the building has transformed it into an efficient, creative space, and it provides a great environment for both established and start-up businesses,” commented Jim. “They have an excellent support network in place and the team look after their clients extremely well.”

Breakout area

officebroker.com provides an end-to-end service, providing clients with market knowledge, office recommendations, and even help negotiating the monthly cost. Therefore regular feedback and open communication between officebroker.com and the office provider is essential, as it allows the consultant at officebroker.com to stay ahead of every step of the process, and help the client in every way possible.

Chris Meredith, officebroker.com’s UK Head of Sales, commented on how the Group works with the team at officebroker.com.

“We always get very positive endorsements about this centre and our team work extremely well with The Office Group,” said Chris. “They are quick to provide feedback following tours and they keep a constant flow of communication, which ultimately helps us to move the process along for clients as quickly and smoothly as possible.”

Unique property option

Stewart Whiting, Business Development Director at The Office Group, commented:

The roof terrace and seating area

“The Office continues to challenge the concepts of both the serviced office and the conventional lease by creating a new, unique property option for our clients. We’ve been recognised for this by different organisations several times already this year and we’re delighted to add officebroker.com to that list.

“Since opening in September last year, The Office Farringdon Too has attracted a great mix of innovative, forward thinking companies who now consider this building as home and engage with each other on a daily basis. Whilst occupancy remains extremely high, we hope to be able to provide space for several new companies over the coming months.”

As winners of September’s Business Centre of the Month award, Farringdon Too will now receive a free video, certificate, award logo, homepage promotion and additional PR from the officebroker.com team.
