Serviced office provider Regus has revealed a deal with oil company Shell to trial drop in business lounges in a range of forecourts and motorway service stations across Europe.
The first centre has opened in France at a service station just south of the capital, Paris. Offering flexible workspaces with services such as high speed internet and printing facilities, Regus believe they can tap into the lucrative market of the mobile workforce.
Regional director at Regus, Celia Donne said; “The rapid rise of the mobile worker gives us an excellent opportunity to extend our core offering beyond offices. Technology is a key driver in the growth of a mobile workforce, but the increase in demand for drop-in business centres has come from mobile workers who still need a place to touch down, and a business centre at a motorway service station or railway station platform makes sense.”
Regus’ founder and chief executive Mark Dixon was quoted in the Independent newspaper saying; “by opening Regus business lounges at motorway stations, Shell and Regus are bringing vibrant business hubs right to the roadside.
Shell’s vice president of retail in Europe, Istvan Kapitany, described the scheme as an “alliance” that “allows Shell and Regus as market leaders in their respective fields to come together to better serve our customers,"
Regus has also agreed a similar deal with the French national railway service, SNCF.
