Innovation Office Space Offered by Google

Google is set to play a major role in nurturing innovative tech companies here in the UK, providing office space and support in what has been heralded as the UK’s answer to the Silicon Valley –located on the Old Street roundabout in London in case you were wondering.

Located within a seven-storey building on Bonhill Street, a short distance from the “Silicon Roundabout”, Google explained that companies using the workspace would also gain access to "a range of activities, such as speaker series, hackathons, training workshops and product demonstrations" – supporting innovation and helping businesses to benefit from the shared knowledge on offer.

Speaking to BBC News, Tech City Chief Executive Eric Van Der Kleii – the body tasked with promoting the initiative that Google’s contribution will be a part of - explained:

"What {companies like Google} do by having a firm footing in the community is provide a channel for innovation, to partner with them and potentially even sell to them"

"It accelerates the process of the entrepreneur doing a tech startup, selling for a lot of money, creating a lot of millionaires within their organisation and creating recyclable wealth - then going out to do more innovation."

Signalling an important step toward Prime Minister David Cameron’s ambition of turning this area of central London into a leading centre for innovation and technology, the space being delivered by Google is expected to be completed in 2012 after the Bonhill Street building has been refurbished.
