The first three office properties for the BBC, which are being created at MediaCityUK - the acclaimed new Salford development - are due to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
Head of Property at the BBC, Chris Kane, has said that their new base at MediaCityUK on Salford Quays is "an ambitious programme" in terms of the complex requirements and technical facilities, but also because it is being designed as an "enduring landmark building that the public can use".
"But, with Salford Quays ahead of schedule and under budget," continues Chris, speaking to Property Week, "the benefits that will be delivered alongside it are huge."
Of the three properties that the BBC are taking on, building 'C' was handed over in October 2009, and buildings A and B are reportedly due to be signed off this month.
All of the new studio and office buildings will meet the coveted BREEAM 'Excellent' rating for sustainability.

For interested Office Broker readers, I keep a Salford Quays MediaCityUK Photographic Timeline Journal. This is currently made up of 12, 500 pictures starting from the first digger on site in June 2007. The timeline is updated weekly with the latest photos. The link below always redirects to the current month. I am an IT Manager in Salford Quays and work only 500 yards from the site. As such, I am able to keep abreast of the development with ease and post pictures quite frequently. Here is the link, hope it proves useful. http://www.mediacityuksalfordquays.net/mcuk.htm
