Small and Medium-sized companies, who are often tenants of business centres offering serviced office space, were severely affected by the cold winter weather according to a new study reported in the Business section of the BBC Website.
Lloyds TSB Commercial surveyed 1,003 firms about the effects of the long winter weather and estimated that the cost to SME sector totalled around 7.3bn.
The impact of the weather, which included freezing temperatures and days of heavy snow, affected regional businesses in varying degrees, with Welsh companies showing the highest level of disruption during the cold-snap.
While 39% of the businesses surveyed said they were directly affected by the impact of closure upon their business premises, a further 42% found that disruption to supplies or delivers to their place of business was the principle reason for the downturn experienced during this period.
