The new “More London” offices for PricewatherhouseCoopers (PwC) has become the first office building in the UK to be awarded the BREEAM “Outstanding” rating after the professional services firm chose to raise the bar in sustainable office design.
Equating to the size of four football pitches, the 48,000 m2 office is located on London’s south bank and is currently being fitted out internally following the completion of the buildings shell. The company hopes to take occupancy of its new office space in early 2011.
When occupied, this uniquely “outstanding” property will host 5500 employees across its 10 storey’s and offer four restaurants, 240 cycle spaces, roof terrace and on site energy generation facilities that will use recycled cooking oil and solar thermal panels.
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building's environmental performance.
