BSkyB has finally completed their search for new office space in Greater Manchester by settling on 23,500 sq ft of space at a new Grade A office property in Stockport, at BAM Properties' recently completed St Peter's Square office.
Over 550 customer services jobs will be created in the town centre, and will bring the building - the first Grade A office space in Stockport centre for seven years - to nearly 50% occupation following its completion less than a year ago.
The six-storey property, designed by HKR Architects, is also the first to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating in the area.
According to Place Northwest, Chris Stylianou, head of Sky's customer centres, said:
"Sky is excited about finding a new home in Stockport and I'm delighted to be able to announce these new opportunities. We look forward to recruiting a great team here in Stockport and to making a real contribution to the local community."
Neil Mort, development manager of Salford-based BAM Properties, said:
"To have secured half the space at St Peter's Square to Sky certainly justifies BAM's commitment to building this development speculatively," adding, "It's a great start to 2010."
BSkyB are planning to move in by 1 July.
