Proposed move to Canary Wharf offices for Shell

Petrol giant Shell is currently in negotiations to move to offices in Canary Wharf, located on Bank Street in the Docklands area. The proposed lease agreement is for a reported 10 years.

Shell, who are currently based at offices in South Bank, have been looking at a number of temporary office solutions for around 2,000 staff, while long-term development works are completed on their current location.

Last two office buildings at MediaCityUK handed over to BBC

The BBC have received the keys for their final two office buildings, located at the acclaimed MediaCityUK site at Salford Quays.

Peel Media handed over the keys for buildings A and B last week. Building C was handed over in October 2009.

BBC Children's presenters Sonali Singh from Newsround, Helen Skelton from Blue Peter and Alex Winter from CBeebies (pictured) visited the site, which will become the home of their respective programmes in 2011.

Work on Birmingham Cube development to continue despite firm’s administration

The firms behind Birmingham's iconic Cube development have gone into administration, but work will continue on the site after a last-ditch attempt to find funding proved successful.

Spinningfields investment to create 9,000 jobs

Since the announcement that Manchester council are planning to invest £15million into the recession-hit Spinningfields office development, the council have claimed that the move could bring 9,000 jobs to the region.

Yahoo, LinkedIn and eBay are just some of a large number of corporate firms looking to stay or find new commercial office space in Ireland, according to a report by the Irish Times.

The office space market in many parts of Ireland suffered heavily during the recession, but recent reports suggest that there is a return in demand - specifically in the capital city of Dublin - which is being driven by clients taking advantage of break options to secure better value.

Taxpayers foot £15m cash injection for recession-hit Spinningfields office scheme

Manchester Council is planning to use up to £15milion of taxpayers' funds in a bid to boost the high-profile city centre Spinningfields development, which has been hampered by the recession.

The Council are now expected to face tough questions, as the move comes just days after the announcement that they would be cutting 300 jobs a year as part of a programme to save £37million by 2013.

Birmingham Council office move could hamper World Heritage bid

The possible closure of Council offices in Birmingham through spending cutbacks, along with a proposed downgrade of staffing levels, could hamper the bid to see Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter becoming a World Heritage Site.

The reduction in Council support has been blamed for the threat, according to the city's Conservation and Heritage Panel - the historic building 'watchdog'.

Google Street View vote names historic street in York ‘most picturesque’ in UK

The Shambles, a historic cobbled street in York which is lined with stunning 15th Century buildings, has scooped the title of Britain's 'most picturesque' street in Google's Street View Awards.

Over 11,000 people voted in the competition, which saw York's famous 'chocolate box' tourist attraction see off strong opposition from the likes of The Royal Crescent in Bath and Grey Street in Newcastle, which came second and third respectively.

Sky brings 550 jobs to new Grade A offices in Greater Manchester

BSkyB has finally completed their search for new office space in Greater Manchester by settling on 23,500 sq ft of space at a new Grade A office property in Stockport, at BAM Properties' recently completed St Peter's Square office.

Over 550 customer services jobs will be created in the town centre, and will bring the building - the first Grade A office space in Stockport centre for seven years - to nearly 50% occupation following its completion less than a year ago.
