Prominent UK serviced office provider Abbey Business Centres has agreed a two-year deal with Sky News, who have taken 1,250 sq ft of space in the City of London, in the landmark 'Gherkin' office building - formally known as 30 St Mary Axe.

As previously reported on our blog, the agreement provides studio space for the business news programme 'Jeff Randall Live', which premiered this week on Monday 22nd February.

The iconic building, a now famous marker in London's financial region, offers a prime location and an impressive range of business utilities, not to mention classic views of the cityscape which provides a visually stunning backdrop for viewers.

Julie Calder, Managing Director of Abbey Business Centres, said:

"Sky News was particularly impressed by The Gherkin itself and the view from its base on the 15th floor. I think this gives out a message that there is a place for the serviced office package within iconic structures."

Commenting on the suitability of the business centre for studio space, which would normally be used as offices, she adds: "This leasing agreement shows just how flexible business centres can be in providing commercial space solutions."

"The City of London is at the heart of the UK economy, it's where the banking crisis happened and it's where the key players - from monetary policy makers to top executives and analysts - are based," adding that the new studio will bring viewers "even closer to the business stories that matter to them."
