The BBC's development of their offices in Salford, at the acclaimed new MediaCityUK facility, is expected to be completed around £76m under budget.
Five departments from the BBC are moving to the new site in 2011, including Radio 5 Live, BBC Sport and the Children's division. The move will see around 2,500 jobs being transferred to the new location.
The BBC are taking the first building and have reported that they are expecting the development to be completed £76m under budget. However, the news comes amid accusations that the BBC faces "serious difficulties" concerning their Broadcasting House extension development, which is reportedly costing up to £100m more than originally planned.
As well as the issue of overspending, a National Audit Office report also found that the development had exceeded its deadline, having originally been scheduled for completion in 2008.
BBC Trustee Jeremy Peat admitted that "serious mistakes" had been made in the early part of the Broadcasting House project.
"But there is still considerable room for improvement," he added, "and consequently we will follow up the National Audit Office's recommendations vigorously and as a matter of urgency."
