Tough Guy of the serviced office world!

On a cold Sunday morning on January 31st 2010, Chris Meredith, Head of UK Sales for officebroker.com , found himself standing alongside his brother Sean in a field just outside Wolverhampton. Unlike most fields however, traditionally occupied by crops, sheep or a load of old cows, this field was a tad different.

Because set out before them was the Tough Guy course. This unique challenge, which prides itself as being “the toughest test of strength and endurance on Earth!” has, over the last 20 years, developed a course boasting a torturous blend of mud, freezing lakes, acrophobia, claustrophobia, barbed wire, fire and electro shock obstacles which people happily throw themselves at twice a year.

The challenge, which is far removed from his day job overseeing the sales department of the largest office broker in the UK, began for Chris when his brother Sean entered him as a birthday present. Not only did this offer Chris the memory (and possible the scars) of a lifetime but also the chance to support the “Funds for Heroes” charity central to this long-running event.

With areas of the course know as “The Killing Fields” and obstacles such as “Dead Leg Swamp” and the “Colditz Walls” the Tough Guy challenge offers happy entrants the chance to take part in “The Worlds safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance” and, in what is surely a strong argument against care in the community, 5000 thrill seekers regularly RSVP with an odd little glint growing in their eyes.

Chris and Sean completed the course in good time and both agreed that it was one of most challenging physical experiences they have ever faced. But despite this Chris was ready and raring to go back at officebroker.com the following morning. So from everyone here at officebroker.com we would like to say well done to Chris and Sean for putting themselves through the Tough Guy Challenge for such a worthwhile cause.
