According to officebroker.com statistics, the cost of workstations in serviced office space fell in Scotland to £221.00 per workstation in Q4 09 – 24% below the rental cost of £292.00 charged per workstation during the same period of 2008.

This drop in workstation costs, while an attractive proposition for those businesses seeking office space in Scotland, positions the serviced office market in Scotland below national averages for the same period.

While in Q4 09 serviced office providers throughout the UK were pricing their workstations at an average of £258.00, serviced office providers in Scotland were finding themselves an average of £37.00 per workstation behind. The decrease in workstation rental costs follows a decline in both enquiry levels and the number of new serviced office tenants entering the market in Scotland during 2009.

On a positive note however, the cost per workstation recovered to within 2% of 2008 levels during December of 2009 – a recovery which serviced office providers will hope indicates the first marker along the road to recovery following a difficult year.
