BT have agreed to take space at a new £55 million office development in West Bromwich, in a move that is set to create up to 450 jobs in the area.
Outline planning consent has been secured for the building, which totals 245,000 sq ft on a seven acre site, and is set to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating at the hands of Glenn Howells Architects.
The building is based on an open-plan design, including a central atrium and a new landscaped public square, along with a number of 'green' features including pedestrian and cycle links to the town.
According to the Birmingham Post, Mick Laverty, chief executive at Advantage West Midlands - that committed £11million to the project - said: "Today's announcement with BT demonstrates that the West Midlands has a great deal to offer businesses locating their operations here in the region."
He continued, "It is the first major new office development in West Bromwich for 30 years. We are confident that this announcement will prompt many others as the high quality office space and attractive location entices businesses to the area, creating more quality jobs for local people, and kick starting further regeneration in the town."
