The ground engineering works for a new tram line have been laid on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre, with the station located directly outside the entrance to Abbey Business Centre's serviced offices.

Since the completion of the works, the street is once again open to traffic following a period of 10 months.

Buses are back on the street and have resumed normal service, which is good news for firms based at the business centre. The buses stop within a block of the front entrance, and provide a regular link between the office and other parts of the city, including Edinburgh Airport.

Once fully completed, the tram will provide an additional transport service which will link the offices with numerous locations including the Airport, Gyle office district, city centre and Leith.

Richard Jeffrey, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Trams, commented on the recent completion of the groundwork as a 'milestone'.

"The completion of this stage of the work is a milestone for all of us," he said. "Installing the tram works on Princes street has been a journey of discovery in many senses including discovering uncharted underground structures, moving kilometres of complex utility pipes and cables as well setting in place an infrastructure which will support the growth of the City for years to come."
