Mayor of London Boris Johnson is today attending the official opening of The Peak, a new office space and retail development opposite Victoria Station in central London.

The building is a joint venture between veteran property entrepreneur Gerald Ronson's group Heron International, partners AXA Real Estate Investment Managers, and the Co-operative Insurance Society.

The property, based in the West End, boasts 78,800 square feet of office space and 19,200 square feet of retail space.

According to the Wall Street Journal's The Source, Gerald Ronson said:

"The Peak is our 158th development since Heron was established over 50 years ago. All our developments share two common themes - attention to detail, which I regard as paramount, and being prime market products in the very best locations. The Peak has all of these attributes."

He says that today's opening is a "powerful expression of the way London is powering out of the recession."

"It's another great step forward for Victoria as a prime central London office market," continues Ronson, "and a strong sign of confidence in the economic future for this area."
