As stated on our small business site recently, a recent poll carried out by the Warwick Business School states that family-run businesses are considered more employee-friendly, passionate and creative.
45% of people surveyed believed that family businesses are generally more concerned about employee welfare and also have more motivated staff, while only 9% believe this is the case for non-family firms.
Those surveyed also thought they offered more flexibility and less stress.
Stephen Roper, professor of enterprise at Warwick Business School, said:
"Family businesses are well placed to benefit from the brain drain going on in big businesses, with many talented employees searching out positions that offer family-friendly working environments."
