Planning bosses give green light for Co-op Group’s head office in Manchester

As previously reported on our blog, the Co-operative Group have applied for planning permission to build a new £100m head office in Manchester city centre.

Today we can report that the scheme has been given further approval by council planning officials, giving the green light for the new 325,000 sq ft property.

According to online reports, Chief Executive Peter Marks said:

"This is another important step towards our new head office building which is planned to open in 2012, and it further underlines the continuing relationship between the group and the city."

Marks adds: "We intend the building to reflect the continuing success and ethical values of the organisation in its design, construction and its relationship both with employees and surrounding communities."
