Travelodge boosts Covent Garden properties in Olympics preparation

Hotel company Travelodge has spent a total of £84m on six of its properties in Covent Garden and other areas around London, ahead of London's hugely anticipated hosting of the 2012 Olympic Games.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the company will create around 200 new jobs to operate the hotels - which are based in the prime locations of Covent Garden, Ealing, Stratford, Bromley and two in Harrow.

Travelodge's chief executive, Grant Hearn, said:

"We have long stated our aim of being the lead brand in London by the time of the games. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the tourism industry and we intend to take it with both hands."
