Office space interest looking up for the north-west

Although CB Richard Ellis say that take-up for office space in Manchester is said to be down in the first half of this year compared with last year, the remainder of 2009 is set to see significant improvement.

In a report by Property Week, the commercial property and real estate services adviser CBRE said that Manchester take-up is expected to remain above the 10-year average.

Will Kennon, a senior surveyor at CB Richard Ellis north-west, said in an interview with Property Week:

"The significant reduction in take up can be attributed to the wider economic problems, but it's also important to remember that a very healthy number of lettings are still in the pipeline and due to complete in the next couple of months. Indeed, Manchester is demonstrating robust characteristics in terms of office demand thanks to a mixture of public and private sector requirements."

Kennon also added that office space in Manchester is currently higher than it has been over the past five years.
