Full steam ahead for new Co-op Group office space in Manchester

As reported on our office space blog in May, the Co-operative Group recently announced plans to develop a major new office development in the heart of Manchester.

We've since found out that following a month-long consultation period, the scheme has officially been given the go-ahead by the council.

According to TheBusinessDesk, the development aims to bring residential and office space to Manchester's city centre, along with green spaces, an eco-friendly energy system which aims to provide all heat and power needs from renewable sources, and an emphasis on encouraging greener commuting methods - such as cycling and public transport.

As reported in an article by TheBusinessDesk, Co-op chief executive Peter Marks said that the area can be transformed, "into a new and instantly recognisable quarter that will attract new business, retail and residential users as well as greatly enhancing the public space which leads into the city centre."

Up to 15,000 jobs are expected to be created as a result of the scheme.
