As reported today on TheBusinessDesk, a new children's programme is set to be the first of its kind to be based in Manchester, at the BBC's future location in MediaCity, Salford.
The programme, called Beat the Boss, has been likened to a version of The Apprentice for kids. The show will pit teams of three children against three adults, with the aim of researching, planning and creating a product for the children's market. The show is presented by The Apprentice runner-up, Saira Khan.
The BBC is set to move several departments to the new Manchester office in 2011. Regarding the move, BBC Director-General, Mark Thompson stated on a BBC press release: "The modern, multimedia broadcast and production centre in Salford will shift the BBC's centre of gravity away from London, bringing a range of creative benefits to us and, I hope, helping us to better reflect and represent the whole of the UK."
