F&C Investments are due to plough £2m in a major landmark office in Manchester. Work on the King Street building, a former Bank of England property, will start early next month and is due to be completed before Christmas.
The old banking hall was converted back in 1996, along with the addition of a 13-storey extension. Reid Architects of Manchester did the original scheme 13 years ago, and have now been commissioned again for the latest updates.
Director Simon Reid said: "The building has simply been overtaken by the quality of other office developments in Manchester, and the owners took the decision to invest again to put it back on the map."
The revamp will see updates to all the common areas, as well as the installation of showers on some floors, so staff who cycle to work (making use of the new cycle racks in the basement) can freshen up before starting work.
