Councils urged to share office space

The Audit Commission is urging government sector organisations to make better use of their office space. Research has revealed that a third of authorities don't share office space or facilities with other local public sector bodies.

In response to this, calls are being made for central government to encourage councils to use their office space and property assets more efficiently.

As reported on jobsgopublic.com, Bharat Shah, deputy chair of the Audit Commission, states: "The recession is a good time for councils to plan how to use the property they own more efficiently and possibly even to acquire assets for the future."
