Workers 'Touch Base While on Holiday' - 21/08/2007
Research carried out by Peninsula shows that five in ten employees will maintain contact with work while on holiday, with 51 per cent planning to call the office at least once and 63 per cent intending to keep daily contact.
Meanwhile, 60 per cent admit that they will spend their time worrying about their job and whether or not it will remain safe while they are away.
Peter Done of Peninsula suggests that bosses reassure employees by letting them know they deserve a break, while workers
are advised to make sure all deadlines are met before travelling, for peace of mind. They are also advised to liaise with colleagues beforehand to cover am emergent problems.
"It is often difficult to switch off from work when going on holiday but it is about recharging batteries and getting away from the working environment," comments Mr Done.
Research from officebroker.com reveals an increase in the number of employees working long hours into the night.
