The station falls into Travelcard Zone 1 and was the former home of the Eurostar rail service that connects London to Europe via the Channel Tunnel.
Waterloo also provides access to the London Underground tube network and in the year prior to the relocation of the Eurostar service, Waterloo handled approximately 188 million travelers and commuters – more than any other station in Europe.
Other local public transport links inc Lambeth North and Southwark tube stations which are all within walking distance (under 1 mls) from the heart of the area. Two major landmarks of the Waterloo area are the enormous dome of the British Film Institute IMAX theatre which opened in 1999, and the very well known tourist attraction, The London Eye.
Even though the station at Waterloo was such a busy terminus, the surrounding area is actually very serene and calm. The area has a real “neighbourhood” feel to it with most residents being professionals who work in the city centre and commute north of the river each day whilst enjoying the nearby arts-focused areas in their free time.
Waterloo’s main shopping area, Lower Marsh, provides many retail stores and eateries which also makes it a popular location for business organisations. Whilst not having the same reputation for corporate commerce as other parts of the City centre, there is still a wide variety of Waterloo office space to choose from inc fully serviced, prestigious executive suites, sublet space and longer term leasing office space.
Fully serviced office space benefits from flexible terms, the provision of furniture inc chairs, desks and stores and other business services such as broadband, telecoms, reception services and some even offer secretary services to help keep your business running costs as low as possible. Sub-lease space and longer term leasing agreements may suit larger business organisations that want a long term agreement and will not need to expand or contract their staff levels or office space requirement.
