The Serviced Office Sector has grown from its origins in the 1980’s to become a worldwide, multi-million pound industry that continues to be an intrinsic part of the business community and a significant player in the commercial property market.

1. 30 St Mary Axe – “The Gherkin” – London

The Gherkin stands at the heart of London's financial district

A standout building on the London Skyline that sits at the heart of the city’s financial district. Spread over 40 floors and standing at 180 metres high the building opened its doors in April 2004 and stands on the former site of the Baltic Exchange building.

The serviced office in the "Gherkin" was recently chosen as the site for the flagship business program of Sky News.

2. Tower 42 – London

Once the tallest building in the City of London and originally known as the Natwest Building, a reputation enhanced by its design reflecting the Natwest Bank Logo, the building rises to 183 metres and provides 47 floors that are used for a variety of commercial purposes.

The Canary wharf Tower commands the London skyline

3. 1 Canada Square – London

Known to most as the Canary Wharf Tower, this pyramid topped skyscraper holds the accolade of being the tallest building in the whole of the UK at 235 metres high and with a total of 50 floors.

4. Lloyds Building – London

Known for its quirky design features, which include having its stairs and lifts positioned on the exterior of the building, this building stands at 95.1 metres from ground to spire and is home to the world famous Lloyds of London insurance group.

Celluloid outing for this building include appearances in “Mamma Mia!”, “Entrapment” and “Spy Games”.

1. Empire State Building – NYC

The Empire State Building in NYC

The world’s tallest building for over 30 years the Empire State Building towers 443.2 metres above the New York City skyline. Yet another building that has had its iconic status captured on film it is perhaps most famous for its appearance in the 1933 classic “King Kong”

2. Chrysler Building - NYC

Another location to have held the title of world’s tallest building, the 318.9 metre tall building has 77 floors and has a distinctive Art Deco design.

3. Petronas Twin Towers – Kuala Lumpur

The Twin Towered Petronas building in Kuala Lumpur

Another location occupied by serviced offices, the Petronas Twin Towers building is yet another to have held the accolade of being the world’s tallest building. Standing at 451.9 metres and 88 floors the building comprises of two towers that are linked by a “skybridge” which is open to visitors wishing to experience the views.

4. Taipei 101 – Taipei – Taiwan

Only surpassed in height in 2010 when the Burj Khalifa building opened in Dubai, the Taipei 101 building has a floor count of 101 and a ground to spire height of 509.2 metres. This Taiwan giant was apparently the first building to exceed the half kilometre milestone and contains a “tuned mass damper” to protect it from the often ferocious typhoon winds and earthquakes that can affect the area.
