officebroker.com, who offer a free service to help businesses find suitable office space anywhere in the UK and worldwide, have been undergoing a restructure process since August to help their existing team cope with the increase in enquiries. The procedure has enabled consultants to handle their enquiries more efficiently, and has also created a number of new roles within the team.

Commenting on the recruitment drive, Chris Meredith, Head of UK Sales for officebroker.com, said:

"Our main goal here is to increase our team so that each consultant deals with fewer enquiries. This will enable us to improve our level of service by spending more time with each client, and really get to understand what they want from their new office."

This consultative approach has always been at the core of officebroker.com. But as Chris explains, by bringing more people on board: "We will be able to spend more time with each person and really add value to the service we offer."

The majority of new roles available are for new consultants to join officebroker.com's sales team. Each consultant is assigned a geographical area, and will be responsible for matching new clients with appropriate offices in that region. Naturally, this involves maintaining good working relationships with the office providers in the area, and Chris hopes that the expansion will allow the team to visit the offices in their 'patch' more often.

"We want to free up some hours in the day so that our consultants can spend more time visiting the providers they work with. This is a good exercise for new recruits as well as our more established team members, and I want to make these visits a more regular occurrence going forward."

Global reach

officebroker.com was established in 2001, and since then has been trading in the UK from their head office in Tamworth, Staffordshire, along with a secondary UK office in London. In 2006, the company opened a third office in Dallas, Texas (US) - their first overseas HQ - and in 2009 a fourth base was launched in Perth (Western Australia). Most recently, earlier this year a fifth location was opened in Dubai (UAE).

The new UK recruits will be based just outside of Tamworth, at the quirky building that was once a working cotton mill. officebroker.com can offer prospective staff a number of benefits, which includes a competitive salary, good team atmosphere, and a full training programme that also allows new recruits the chance to 'buddy up' with more experienced team members.

As Chris explains, another key attraction is the success of the company itself.

"We offer a solid company structure - which is particularly evident given the state of the economy. Rather than standing still and dwindling during the recession, we have actually grown and we continued to offer excellent commissions throughout - even in the middle of the downturn."

officebroker.com is also committed to career progression, as the majority of management staff and team leaders are 'home grown' and have worked their way up to their current positions.

Travel opportunities

Along with the UK roles, officebroker.com is looking to take on more consultants at their US base in Dallas, Texas. The company are actively advertising for new staff in the States, and are now looking at the possibility of opening up these overseas roles to UK-based applicants.

VP of Sales Dan Murphy started his career with officebroker.com in the UK office back in 2004. Having worked his way up through the ranks to become Sales Manager in 2006, Dan had several trips out to the Dallas office, and eventually accepted a position at the head of the US sales team. He then moved out to Dallas to take up his new responsibilities in October 2009.

"I travelled extensively when I was younger and spent a lot of time in the Americas," says Dan. "It's always been an ambition of mine to live in the US and experience the American way of life. It's great being able to pass on the knowledge and experience I've gained working in the UK industry to my team," he adds. "Plus the weather is much better!"

For any candidates based in the UK that are interested in travelling to the States, officebroker.com are planning to offer a structured training programme and probationary period at their Tamworth office in the UK, which would then result in the opportunity to take up a permanent position based near Dallas.

"We're expanding both our UK and US sales teams, and we're also concentrating on growing our presence in EMEA and Asia Pacific, so there are certainly plenty of opportunities on the cards" says Chris.

officebroker.com are looking for anyone who has worked in a sales environment and who are looking for a new challenge. There is no cold calling, as all enquiries received are generated online. Applicants must be good with people and able to cope in a fast-moving and high-pressure environment.
