Who is moving on up in the West Midlands?
- The chief executive of Midland Heart, Richard Clark, is to stand down this autumn. He will be replaced by chief operating officer Tom Murtha, who will lead the largest housing and regeneration organisation in the Midlands.
- Horton’s' Estate, the family-owned Birmingham property company, has a new chairman. Non-executive director Richard Samuda has taken over from Michael Norton, who has retired after seven years. Samuda, a chartered accountant, is a former KPMG partner specialising in regeneration and retail.
- Supply chain specialist Oakland International
has appointed Solihull accountant Mike
Tainton as finance director. He was the com-pany's financial accountant and has worked at
Oakland since it was launched in 1998.
- Training manager Mel Hughes and develop¬ment manager John Price have become associ¬ate directors of TTC, the Telford company that
educates the corporate sector on managing
road risk.
- Longbridge security and surveillance services
company Scyron has taken on Harry Westropp
as chairman. The former executive chairman of
Norbain, and chairman of Abacus, the electronic
components distribution company, will support
growth of Scyron's surveillance technologies into
new markets.
- Chris Akers has been made managing
director of Titan Steel Wheels after a year as manufacturing director. Akers replaces Dave Young, who is retiring after more than 40 years with the group, although he remains a consultant to parent Titan Europe and hon¬orary chairman of Titan Steel Wheels.
- Chief executive of Royal Doulton pottery,
Wayne Nutbeen, is to step down. The former England rugby union international player has been at the helm for ten years, during which time the company's presence in Staffordshire has shrunk from employing 4,000 people to a handful. It closed its last Stoke factory in 2005 and was taken over by rival Wedgwood.
- Engineering consultancy
- Cundall has expand¬ed its team in Birmingham. David Walker has joined as a structural partner, while associate Alec Stewart has been promoted to partner and Alan McWilliam has joined as a senior associate.
- Construction services company Mansell has appointed John Holloway as operations manager for its Stourbridge-based Western region. He has spent his entire career in construction and trained with John Laing Construction.
- Wragge & Co has boosted its life sciences
practice by appointmenting a regulatory
specialist. Liz Fuller, a US-qualified lawyer,
joins as director.
- Law firm Shoosmiths has announced three
promotions at its Birmingham office. Cherry
Elliott and Beth Grundy (both commercial
property), and Emma Hatfield (employment)
have all been made associates.
- Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets has appointed
Ian Fitzjohn as relationship director in the
Birmingham and West Midlands office. He will
head a team responsible for supporting,
customers in Stafford and the surrounding area
with turnovers of more than £15m.
- Property adviser Vail Williams has recruited Catherine Thomas as a partner. She was previously director of property management at NB Real Estate.
- Aon, the insurance broker and risk adviser, has promoted Lisa Bartlett to branch director in Birmingham. The former client management director will be responsible for building the local profile of Aon and attracting new business.
- Hammonds in Birmingham is boosting its property litigation offering by bringing in a new lawyer to head the team. Caroline Wort joins as senior associate from Cobbetts in Birmingham.
- Peter Burford has joined the Birmingham
office of inter-disciplinary property and con-struction consultancy McBains Cooper as a
consultant.
- officebroker.com has appointed non-executive director, Andrew Coombs (left). A former sales director at Regus - the world's largest provider of serviced offices -Coombs will advise current managing directors Jim Venables and Andy Haywood.
